(More customer reviews)Most prominent in MCE's ULTIMATE 150 CARTOON FESTIVAL are shorts featuring the New 3 Stooges, Betty Boop, Popeye and "bouncing ball" singalongs. Of especial interest to vintage animation fans are silent-era cartoons drawn by Walt Disney. Oswald Rabbit is clearly the physical predecessor of Mickey Mouse. Disney's "Alice" animations combine live action and cartooning. Also from the pre-talkies 1920s are a half-dozen Felix the Cat shorts. The adult subjects of these include a visit to Bolshevik Russia that gets rather frightening, a trip through the transatlantic pipeline and a Hollywood audition.
Animations are generally grouped by studio via a simple menu system and subdivided according to main character. No superimposed on-screen logos mar the cartoons. Video dub quality varies with stock condition-- that is, from very good to barely fair.
