I'm really not sure what Disney is trying to do here. They've been giving us the outstanding Disney Treasures Sets in waves but then also releasing many of the same toons on other DVDs. Take this Vintage Mickey set. Great toons to be sure, but Seven of the nine toons are already on the Mickey in Black & White volume one. The other two toons, "The Castaway" and "Mickey's Steamroller" are on Mickey in Black & White volume two.
Now, the first volume is out of print evidently but you can still find it on the secondary market. I've even still seen it in a local Mediaplay store. I'd highly recommend those two sets for any Mickey or Disney fan over shelling out the cash for this lower rent DVD.
While this does have vintage Mickey toons from 1928's Steamboat Willie to 1935's Mickey's Service Station, I would not call these the best 9 tunes of that era. I would have put "The Gorilla Mystery" and "The Dognapper" in there before some of these others. It's a good set but I recommend picking up the two Disney Treasures sets if you are a real die-hard fan.
