you've got to admire the simple brilliance of "person-on-the-street" interviews coupled with aardman's outstanding claymation and subtle visual gags. the true test of a great concept is the number of creative directions in which it can be modified, yet still retain its essence -- and on this level, "creature comforts" delivers.
fans of dry british humor (i'm one myself) will love this; snippets of talking claymation animals discussing their day-to-day lives in a variety of scenarios (the ocean, the veterinarian, the circus, working pets, etc.) there are plenty of laugh-out-loud instances here, and it's charming. the crisp pacing works extremely well, too; at times, the silences are as funny as the jokes (you'll see what i mean).
in my estimation, the layered comedy of "CC" is a direct descendant of the classic "looney tunes" cartoons. kids can just sit back and enjoy the hilarious visuals, while perceptive adults can have fun dissecting the in-jokes, sly references and everyday humor to which we can all relate.
(FYI: due to the variety of accents here, i recommend subtitles so you don't miss any laughs!)

Creature Comforts is a brilliant and hilarious clay animation series about the lives of animals as told by the animals themselves. Interviews with these lovable claymation creatures leave no stone unturned, no tree unclimbed, no sea uncrossed in the quest to discover what our fine-finned, furred and feathered friends really think about the issues that are closest to their hearts. It’s a "mockumentary" like none you’ve ever seen, and it could only come from Nick Park and the untamed minds at Aardman Animation.
