(More customer reviews)The dub provided in GENIUS ENTERTAINMENT's GULLIVER'S TRAVELS AND OTHER CARTOON TREASURES is above average in quality. The balance of this slimline-housed DVD are a few cartoon rarities of average to good condition.
CONTENTS--
GULLIVER'S TRAVELS (1939) - At 76 minutes, one of only two FLEISCHER Studios animated features, this was nominated for two Oscars, including Best Song ("Faithful/Forever"). With the singing voices of Jessica Dragonette (Princess Glory) and Lanny Ross (Prince David). Sam Parker as Gulliver was animated from life via Fleischer's Rotoscope technique. Pinto Colvig (aka Disney's 'Goofy') voiced Gabby the Lilliput town crier and Jack Mercer ('Popeye') spoke for King Little. This loose adapation of part of Swift's novel is a Romeo & Juliet-like story (with a happy ending) that embroils two kingdoms of tiny folk in war until giant-sized Gulliver saves the day.
