(More customer reviews)DIGIVIEW's slimline cased DVDs feature unrestored public domain films that have no subtitles or extras. Dubs are "best available source" and can vary from very good to only fair. Audio levels are however some of the highest you'll find, which makes these ideal for laptop PC or portable disc player watching.
The title piece is a vintage b&w FLEISCHER short. Best on this set are a modernist Oscar winner from 1959, plus an early Disney work. Both are hard to find. An additional four also do not enjoy wide circulation.PROGRAM--
LET'S SING WITH POPEYE (1934) - Follow the bouncing ball and sing Popeye's theme song.
I NEVER CHANGES MY ALTITUDE (1936) - Olive soars with flyboy Bluto but soon regrets doing so.
FROZEN FROLICS (1930) - Waffles and Don travel by dogsled to the North Pole, and see dancing polar bears, seals and penguins (?).
NURSERY SCANDAL (1932) - Mother Goose's affair with a scarecrow is stopped by all the characters in her rhymes.
THE FOUR MUSICIANS OF BREMEN (silent-1922) - Walt Disney's second cartoon, a Laugh-O-Gram that bears no resemblance to the German fable.
WHEN G.I. JOHNNY COMES HOME (1945) - Soldiers are "marching home" from war in this bouncing ball sing-a-long short.
MOONBIRD (1959) - Oscar-winning minimalist cartoon of two boys hunting birds at night was created around a candid mike recording of young brothers at play.
CAMPUS CAPERS (1949) - Cat and mouse football game (Quinceton vs. Harbard) features voice of Arnold Stang.
NAUGHTY BUT MICE (1947) - Herman the Mouse (Arnold Stang) helps his country cousins with a pesky cat.
THE KING OF THE BUGS (1930) - Early Van Beuren sound toon that's set in the insect world. Bugler rescues the princess from a spider and wins His Majesty's gratitude.
