(More customer reviews)Arthur: D.W. Blows the Whistle packs three great stories featuring Arthur's little sister D.W. into one DVD. You get "D.W. Blows the Whistle," "D.W.'s Very Bad Mood" and "D.W.'s Name Game."
"D.W. Blows the Whistle"
I really like this story. A "safety officer" comes to D.W.'s preschool and gives the class a talk about safety. He also gives everyone in the class a whistle, deputizing them as "junior safety officers." D.W. imagines herself as a safety princess. Then... she starts driving everyone nuts with the whistle. Arthur and his friends get so annoyed, they try to catch D.W. at doing something unsafe, but it seems like she's become the safest person ever.
"D.W.'s Very Bad Mood"
Listed as "D.W. Bad Mood" on the back of the DVD case. D.W. is in a towering temper and nobody seems to know why. It's so bad, Arthur is ready to call in the Temper Tantrum Patrol Squad (Binky: "Cool, when's that going to be on?!") --- too bad there's no such show. Things are so bad that Arthur is getting hardly any sleep and Francine's determine to help him out before her birthday party rolls around. This one has some great television parodies, including a spot-on spoof on "Leave it to Beaver."
"D.W.'s Name Game"
Listed as "D.W. Name Game" on the back of the DVD case. This is my favorite "Arthur" story ever. The humor, writing and everything else on this story are superb. D.W. is starting to get a bit tired of various annoying things that Arthur does. When they ride bikes together, he always goes too fast. He puts up signs to keep her out of his room and he gobbles down cake and drinks the last of the milk. After having a chat with the Tibbles, D.W. decides that the best way to put Arthur in his place is name-calling. Hilarity ensues as D.W. and Arthur turn to babysitter Katherine and her thesaurus to learn insulting words such as "heinous," "vapid" and "deleterious." But when Arthur gets the one-up on D.W., she ends up in the show's most hilarious fantasy sequence ever.
The cover art on this is the best for an "Arthur" DVD release yet. It's really well-designed compared to the look of most of the past DVDs.I'll spare the normal whining about lack of special features, etc. The content on this DVD is so good, that it really doesn't matter.

Join Arthur, D.W., and all their pals in a fun-filled animated series based on Marc Brown's best-selling children's books. This DVD includes THREE great adventures!"D.W. Blows the Whistle" D.W., a newly-deputized Junior Safety Officer, has a reputation for being a strict enforcer of the rules-well, OK, a tattletale. How far-or how high-will she go to make sure everyone is safe and sound?"D.W. Bad Mood" D.W. is making Arthurs life miserable!(Hard to imagine, but true.)Francine decides shed better find the key to D.W.s cranky behavior before Arthur loses his mind."D.W. Name Game" Whats in a name?A lot of hurt feelings, sometimes. At least thats what D.W. and Arthur discover when their efforts to insult each other get out of control.Although the contest improves their vocabulary, the endless name-calling becomes, well, deleterious.
